CEREC is a high-tech device which is used to design, manufacture, and deliver all-ceramic tooth restorations in a single dental visit, otherwise known as a same day dental crown.
The CEREC system uses a digital camera for obtaining an optical impression of the tooth that is being treated, 3D Computer Aided Design (CAD) software to design an ideal dental restoration, and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) technology to mill a precise dental restoration according to the CAD software specifications. The milling process is completed in less than 10 minutes and the restoration can be delivered in a single appointment.
CEREC can be used to manufacture dental crowns, veneers, inlays, onlays, and now even 3 unit dental bridges. Dr. Schlang also has the ability to restore single unit implants with the CEREC system. All CEREC restorations are made from biocompatible, anti-abrasive and plaque resistant ceramic materials, and are metal free.

How a CEREC crown is made.
1. The Scan
The first step is to take precise 3D color images using the CEREC Primescan oral scanner.
2. Designing the restoration
After analyzing the complete scan, Dr. Schlang uses the chairside software to design your CEREC dental crown.
3. Fabrication
The Sirona Primemill milling machine fabricates the restoration in as little as 10 minutes.
4. Delivery
Dr. Schlang will custom stain and glaze your CEREC dental crown, and then cement the restoration often at the same appointment.
